If you go down to the woods today.....

Just fifteen minutes drive down the road fromPiedmont where the family live is a forest of Redwood Trees.

According to Lonely Planet Guide book, these are the tallest living things on Earth, coast redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) are only found along California's coast. They can live for 2200 years, grow to 378ft talland achieve a diameter of 22ft at the base, with bark up to 12 in thick.

Today we woke up to a beautiful day and just perfect for us to pack our back packs and set off to the local Redwood forest. There are lovely walks just long enough for families to enjoy and get some exercise.

Even little Ben enjoyed skipping along enjoying the beauty around us. The girls looked out for butterflies and birds. I was half expecting a few little buck to peep out from behind these magnificent trees but all we saw was a lizard!!

We all enjoyed the picnic lunch Christopher had prepared and enjoyed chatting about our morning.

Soon it was time to take three little bodies home.

How amazing to have this great spot so close by! I am sure we will be back again.
